Feeling like the cat who got the cheese. Spent this morning and early afternoon in school and have finally completed the set up of the Eee Pcs for our students. It has only taken two months to find the space and time to achieve this, but with a few remaining administrative tasks to complete we should be able to put these tools in the hands of the students during the first two wekks of next term.
The run in to the Summer break is looking really exciting, with a hopeful view towards two mobile ICT suites being available too over the coming months.

Installing a boot disc Aaagh!
Having finished setting up as far as I can go, machines locked away, thought I'd set up a boot disc for the new Asus Builds. Best laid plans of mice and all that as I am forced into the realisation that my current flash disc just isn't big enough by nearly a gig. Decided to take it home and get a ned disc on the way. Unless...... hmm maybe they have one in the office... The yawn will continue...
Easter Break(ish)
Spent yesterday in school setting up Eee PCs. We gained support from the elearning foundation to develop an anywhere anytime learning project a while back, but through one thing and another the machines we ordered to facilitate this did not arrive in school until half term last. Technical support is limited on our site only having a technician for an afternoon per week, meaning machine set up has been slow, amid other stages we need to work on in the development of our ICT infrastructure.
A couple of weeks ago I managed to find space to have battery packs installed, and get some machines added to the inventory, before setting about with my students as help to set up some of the machines. Yesterday I was in school finishing off this part of the process. 60 down and 67 to go. Off out to school now to tidy away after yesterday and hoping for a delivery of the next group to set up. Really want this job out of the way by Wednesday, am I being too hopeful?!*
